What is Medgroup?

Medgroup has, in the past, been the body where the five presidents of the five medical schools in London come together, along with representatives from ULU, the BMA and Medical Student. It is chaired by the University of London Union Medical Students Officer.

Medgroup is concerned with a wide variety of issues, and is the primary representational body for medical students in London. Any, or all issues of relevance, can be brought to Medgroup. Medgroup is used by the presidents of the schools to share best practice and collaborate between schools on issues of common interest. MMC and MTAS have been the main discussion topics of late but Medgroup is also concerned with other issues such as welfare and entertainment, including coordinating the annual 999 night at the Ministry of Sound.

In recent times, Medgroup has widened its remit and membership with the aim of engaging with health professional students in London. It has provided support to schools in order to develop representational structures. These may be structures that have been lost due to mergers, or that never existed but would benefit the student body.

The next Medgroup meeting is scheduled for the 15th January; minutes from the meeting will be on this site the soon after.
