Unlike other medical student publications, MS doesn't need a team of doctors to write about issues relevant to medical students - we have our very own team of dedicated students who write, edit, design and lay everything out! Meet our team...

Editor-in-chief: Charlote Roberts, RUMS.

Charlotte is Editor-in-Chief this year after being National News Editor last year. She completed her first year of clinics in August 08, and is now in her 4th year at UCL studying for a BSc in International Health at UCL. When she's not on Primrose Hill, either running up it, reading or just watching the sunset, she can be found in Borough Market, or simply wandering around London exploring. She is infamous for not being able to stay still for more than 4.59 minutes and renowned for making the most out of London and all the cultural gems it offers.

Deputy Editor: Lydia Spurr, BL.

I'm a fourth year doing a Bmedsci in Molecular Therapeutics - it's more interesting than it sounds, I promise, although I now spend my life playing with pipettes. Originally from sunny Norwich and even though I now live in a little Lincolnshire market town, I still can't seem to escape those Norfolk jokes! I've been interested in the media since appearing on a Christmas special of Blue Peter…aged 17(!) but I still got a badge. I love shoes, sunny weather, all things sugary and have a not-so-secret passion for McFly, but I HATE cheese, including anything with cheese on it (yes even pizza)!

Deputy Editor: Ronit Das,GKT.

Hi to all the readers - My name is Ronit and I am one of the Deputy Editors for paper this year! I am from India, though I grew up in Saudi Arabia and Singapore. I enjoy people with fake tans, women's formal shorts, and Boris Johnson's haircut. I think that Chihuahuas should be declassified to hamsters and that pigeons should be culled en masse. I hope that you will enjoy this year's MedicalStudent in its hilarity and topicality.

Consultant Editors: Ferras Alwan, BL & Emma-Jane Smith, RUMS
Ferras and Emma-Jane used to run the show but now they don't. Nobody's quite sure why they're still around but they are, offering pearls of "wisdom" and muttering about how things weren't like that in their day. Both are final years, Ferras likes West Ham United, Back to the Future and pretending he's Heston Blumenthal, EJ's into space, dancing and juggling fire. All useful skills for running a newspaper, we're sure you'll agree.

Section editors:

Culture editor - Rebecca Odedun, UCL
Hi! My name is Rebecca, I'm a RUMS 4th year intercalating in Medical Anthropology. My main interests are eating, sleeping, fashion, music and sport (particularly Formula 1 and football!)I'm from Southport, which is ACTUALLY oop norf. My greatest achievement to date is probably winning an eating contest... and my biggest embarrassment is dissing Steven Gerrard and being overheard - by his mum. My ideal dinner date would be Wentworth Miller for fine wine, interesting conversation, and some SERIOUS eye candy.

International news editor - Jemma Thieveniran, ICSM
Hi, I'm Jemma and I'm the International News Editor. I'm a fifth year at ICSM - so it's all kiddies, crazies and babies. When I'm not slaving over the books (!) or spending money I don't have on things I don't need, I indulge in my borderline obsession with crime-related TV shows, and just like J.D. am partial to the odd appletini.

National news editor - Katie Hunt, GKT
Katie transferred from Cambridge having seen the lights of the big city, and is now a fourth year at GKT. She likes baking, gin, folding crisp packets into small triangles, and being busy, which is just as well. The thought of wearing socks in bed makes her shudder, and she also dislikes savoury food that tastes sweet, and people who complain about the London transport system - try living in Manchester. She's vaguely dreading the day when she can't avoid patients/relatives/nurses with a smile and the words, "I'm really sorry, but I'm just a medical student..."

Light relief editor - Karan Koshal, GKT: Profile coming soon!

Sports editor - Abdullah Bashir, RUMS:
Abdullah is in his fourth year at GKT, having also spent a year in the darkside intercalating in International Health over at UCL. Originally haling from Birmingham, people are forever besotted with the question of "why don't you have a brummy accent?". "I just don't....get over it". He's also never quite managed to make it to the wonderful hoard of chocolate that is Cadbury's World, despite having a ridiculous hunger for all things sweet and having lived in the damn place his entire life. He enjoys all sports from footy to a bit of frisbee, but has never been one for ginning and other homoerotic forms of initiations. The rest of his interests mainly involve employing quotes from Family Guy in his day-to-day life.

Sub-editors:

(from left to right)

Rajeev Advani, GKT: A fourth year, Rajeev lived in Trinidad for many years means that he's one of the few medics in London with a Caribbean accent! Studying medicine is just a small part of his plan for world domination which involves drinking lots of scotch and coconut water (a Trini concoction), Hoegaarden and kiwi and strawberry Snapple! He also likes dancehall and reggae, dislikes London weather, Nike Air Force Ones and people who can't understand his accent!
